Appendix A – Full Time American Curriculum Teacher Job Description 

 

Job Role/Key Areas of Responsibility The Teacher is responsible for delivering  Curriculum and courses to students and providing a first rate student experience and positive image of the brand. 
 
Supervision Reports to the Head of American Curriculum. 
 
Working hours 
 1. The American Curriculum Teacher works for 40 hours per week, teaching up to 25 classes per week or as needed, for the whole of the School Year. 2. The American Curriculum Teacher will be required to work 5 days per week from Monday to Friday.   
 
Main Responsibilities 1. Carry out the timetable of classes assigned by Head Office. 2. Give lessons to the highest standards of teaching. 3. Become familiar with the programs and courses of study at the school and as directed by School guidelines. 4. Develop and use suitable supplementary materials as necessary. 5. Use audio / video materials in classes. 6. Expose students of technology for learning purposes. 7. Begin and end classes on time. 8. Prepare lessons and equipment in advance for all classes. 9. Administer, correct and record the results of progress reports, tests and assessments for students. 10. Substitute for absent colleagues, perhaps at short notice, on or off-site. 11. Be responsible for students’ welfare and progress. 12. Inform students of School aims and objectives. 13. Cooperate with the Head of American Curriculum and Head of Standardized Testing in ensuring the constructive communication and efficient operation of the school. 14. Meet regularly with the Head of American Curriculum and/or School colleagues to communicate all relevant information. 15. Assist the Head of American Curriculum upon request with the development and marketing of courses and induction of sales, service and teaching staff into the practices of the School. 16. Maintain student and class records, both on paper and on the Academic Student Management system as directed by MacDuffie School Guidelines. 17. Assist in the placement testing and interviewing of new students. 18. Carry out teaching related responsibilities including, but not limited to demonstration classes, homeroom, individual student support, seminars and presentations. 19. Take on administrative work and/or projects including, but not limited to, giving workshops and organizing extra-curricular events, as directed by the Head of American Curriculum. 20. Keep the teachers’ room, equipment and resources well-organized and in good condition. 21. Be familiar with the administrative procedures employed in the School and as directed by School’s Head Office. 22. Attend and participate in workshops in teacher development offered by the School. 23. Observe and be observed by the Head of American Curriculum and teaching colleagues.  24. Be pro-active in improving teaching skills through sharing knowledge with colleagues, and using teaching resources found in the School, Internet and any other available sources. 
 
Career Plan  Teacher can develop his/her teaching skills and progress to the Senior Teacher position.

1.    Salary Range: 15-20K per month depends on experience
